Evaluation of rope shovel operators in surface coal mining

2014. 3. 1.· Data used in this research were collected in a surface coal mine located in the southern part of United States. The mine uses a truck and shovel fleet composed of a P&H 2800 XPB (30.6 m 3 bucket) rope shovel and Caterpillar 789 dump trucks (payload of 163 t). Usually, the shovel removes up to 15 m of overburden before reaching the coal.'Big Brutus,' World's Largest Electric Shovel, Turned Into,2017. 1. 29.· Big Brutus is the world's largest electric shovel. Generally it is economic to strip mine when there is a 20:1 ratio of overburden-to-coal seam, meaning, for example that a three-foot coal seam can be surface mined economically when the overburden isWhat is a Hydraulic Shovel? (with picture),The typical hydraulic shovel is a track-driven machine that is used to dig coal and other minerals from the ground and load it into huge trucks to be driven to a mill.
